THE YOU IN LOVE

Have you ever found yourself working very hard to be loved?

Not consciously, perhaps. You may simply notice that you are always the one who understands, accommodates, helps, holds things together, or gives a little more than you receive. The friend who always drives. The partner who apologises first, even when it wasn’t their fault. The one who senses a shift in someone’s mood before they’ve said a word, and starts managing it.

You become so attuned to the other person that their needs start to feel more important than your own. And because you are capable of carrying so much, it can be difficult to recognise when you have crossed the line between loving someone and losing yourself in loving them.

The September 2026 Full Moon arrives on September 26 at 3° Aries, and it brings this question into sharp focus: who are you, in love?

Aries is the archetype of the sovereign individual, the raw, existential declaration of “I Am.” Before you are a partner, parent, friend or carer to anyone, you are yourself. This Full Moon also sits in a powerful conjunction with Neptune and Saturn, creating a moment where the illusions you’ve built around love, worth and belonging can meet reality. Neptune dissolves what is no longer true. Saturn asks you to face what is. Together, they can reveal the invisible agreements you’ve made about what you need to do to deserve love.

Being Needed

For many people, the story begins early.

Perhaps you grew up feeling that love was connected to being good, helpful or easy to be around. Perhaps you became the one who understood what others needed, absorbed the tension in the room, or learned to take responsibility for things that were never really yours to carry.

These patterns can become so familiar that they don’t feel like strategies anymore. They feel like who you are. And then they quietly follow you into your adult relationships.

You may find yourself drawn towards situations where being needed gives you a sense of security, you may struggle to receive because giving feels safer and you may unconsciously measure your importance by how much you can offer.

Underneath it all can be a deeply rooted belief:

  • If I am useful enough, I will be loved.

  • If I save them, they will choose me.

  • If I make their life easier, I will matter.
  •
If I carry what they cannot carry, perhaps I will finally feel secure in their love.

The problem is not that caring for someone is wrong. The problem begins when your usefulness becomes the price of your belonging, because then love becomes something you have to keep earning. And no amount of giving can ever make you feel permanently secure when, underneath it, you don’t believe you are already valuable.

Where Do You Lose Yourself?

This is where the Aries Full Moon becomes particularly powerful.

Aries doesn’t begin with the question, what does the other person need from me? It begins with:

What do I need?

This can be an uncomfortable question if you’ve spent years orienting yourself around other people. Because when you stop automatically adapting, you may discover that you don’t actually know what you want. You may know what will keep the peace. You may know what is expected of you.

But what about you?

The Full Moon in Aries illuminates the places where you’ve abandoned your own centre in order to maintain connection. And this is where Neptune can dissolve an illusion, the belief that losing yourself is the same thing as loving someone.
It isn’t.

Love does not require your disappearance. And being needed is not the same as being loved.

Knowing Your Value

There is another way to enter a relationship.

Not from the question, how can I make myself valuable to you? But from the deeper knowing:

I already have value.

This isn’t about becoming selfish or refusing to care about anyone else. It’s about giving your own existence equal weight. Because when you don’t know your value, you’ll keep looking for evidence of it in other people’s responses. You may need to feel chosen, reassured or needed — and when that validation disappears, the old wound can whisper:

See? You’re not enough.

If you grew up with messages that devalued you, discouraged your needs, or made you feel that being yourself was somehow wrong, that sense of less than can become the lens through which you experience every relationship. You don’t just enter a relationship — you bring that feeling with you, and spend years trying to make another person give you the worth you were never taught to recognise in yourself.

This is why knowing your value changes everything. When you know you have value, you can love without constantly negotiating for your place. You can give without making yourself indispensable. and you can receive without feeling indebted. You can say no without believing you’re risking love and you can leave space for another person to meet you, rather than constantly moving towards them.

That is the sovereignty of Aries. Not I don’t need anyone. But, I don’t need to abandon myself in order to be with another.

September 2026 Full Moon in Aries: The You in Love

This Full Moon is an invitation to look honestly at the relationship you have with your own value.

  • Where have you confused being needed with being loved?
  • Where have you made yourself responsible for something that isn’t yours to carry?
  • Where have you learned to measure your worth through someone else’s response to you?

The question isn’t whether you should care less. It’s whether you can care for another person without leaving yourself behind — because the most important relationship you bring into every other relationship is the one you have with yourself.

This week, try this: notice one moment where you help, agree, or smooth things over before anyone actually asks you to. Don’t judge it. Just notice it. That moment is the pattern, live and in real time and noticing it is the first act of sovereignty Aries is asking of you.

You don’t have to become more useful to become more lovable. You already are.

With love and care,

Ester
