NEW SKIN
The November 2026 New Moon arrives on November 9 at 16° Scorpio, inviting you to shed an old skin and make space for a new version of yourself to emerge. It is a rather tense New Moon, forming a square to its ruler, Mars, in Leo. This creates a powerful friction between what you know needs to change and the courage required to do something about it.
Scorpio is the alchemist of the zodiac. It knows how to take poison and turn it into medicine, how to rise through the fire like the phoenix. It has lived through death and rebirth, becoming wiser, stronger and more empowered..
This New Moon offers a powerful opportunity to release what you have outgrown and consciously welcome the person you are becoming. If you’d like to work with these energies through ritual, my New Moon Ritual Guide will help you reflect on what you’re ready to shed, reconnect with your deepest desires and plant intentions for the new cycle ahead.
The Alchemy of Becoming
Scorpio understands something that can be difficult to accept: life is not meant to remain the same.
Everything that lives moves through cycles of creation, growth, decay and renewal. Nature demonstrates this beautifully. In autumn, trees release their leaves. What once provided shade and shelter falls away, allowing the tree to conserve its energy and prepare for the next season of growth.
The tree isn’t dying because it has lost its leaves. It is participating in the natural process of becoming.
Scorpio carries this same wisdom. It represents the parts of life that require you to let something end so that something else can begin. Sometimes this happens through circumstances outside your control. At other times, it begins with an inner knowing that you can no longer continue in the same way.
And even when you know it is time to move on, letting go can be uncomfortable. Familiarity has a powerful pull, even when what is familiar no longer nourishes you.
This is where Scorpio’s alchemy comes in.
Your experiences, including the difficult ones, can become a source of wisdom. What once hurt can teach you about your boundaries and what once made you feel powerless can reveal your strength. And what you thought was an ending can become the beginning of a much deeper relationship with yourself.
The phoenix doesn’t rise by pretending it was never through the fire. It rises because it has been transformed by the experience.
The Courage to Shed Your Skin
The New Moon’s square to Mars in Leo brings some tension into this process.
Mars represents action, desire and the courage to pursue what matters to you. In Leo, it wants you to express yourself, follow your heart and take up space. But a square to the New Moon in Scorpio can expose the conflict between what you deeply desire and what you are actually willing to do about it.
Maybe you know what you want, but you keep finding reasons to postpone it. Perhaps you are waiting for the right moment, for someone else’s approval or for a guarantee that everything will work out. Or maybe you are holding on to something familiar because the unknown feels more frightening than the dissatisfaction you already know.
Scorpio asks you to go beneath these explanations and be radically honest with yourself.
What do you really want?
What have you been pretending not to want because it feels too difficult, too risky or too far beyond your reach? And what are you holding on to simply because you don’t know who you would be without it?
These are not always easy questions. They can bring you face to face with desires you have buried, truths you have avoided and decisions you have been postponing.
But there is a difference between knowing something needs to change and being willing to participate in that change.
Courage isn’t the absence of fear. It is the willingness to stop letting fear make every decision for you.
A New Skin to Grow Into
Shedding your old skin creates space for something new to form.
But there is often an in-between period when the old no longer fits and the new has not yet fully emerged. You may feel uncertain, exposed or unsure of where you belong. The familiar reference points are changing, and you cannot yet see the shape of what comes next.
This is not necessarily a sign that something has gone wrong.
Think of a tree in autumn. It doesn’t need to know exactly how its branches will look next spring. It simply follows the rhythm of its own nature, releasing what is ready to fall and conserving its energy for the cycle ahead.
You can do the same.
You don’t need to rush to fill every space that letting go create or replace an old identity with a new one overnight. Give yourself room to discover what wants to emerge.
Start by making choices that honour the person you are becoming. Say yes to what feels alive and no to what you know you have outgrown.
Transformation isn’t always a dramatic gesture. Sometimes it begins with a conversation, a boundary, a decision or a small step you have been afraid to take.
Because every time you choose in alignment with your truth, you strengthen your relationship with yourself. You become less dependent on the familiar and more trusting of your ability to navigate the unknown.
November 2026 New Moon in Scorpio: New Skin
This New Moon invites you to consider what you are ready to shed and what you want to make space for.
Ask yourself:
- What part of my life no longer feels like a reflection of who I am?
- What have I outgrown but continue to hold on to?
- What do I truly want, even if I have been afraid to admit it?
- Where am I waiting for certainty before taking action?
- What is one small step I can take towards the person I am becoming?
You have lived through many seasons of change already. You have released, rebuilt, learned and begun again. And each time, you have discovered something more about who you are.
You don’t have to be afraid of outgrowing your old skin, it has served its purpose. You can honour what it has given you without needing to carry it into the next chapter.
Let what is ready to fall away, fall away.
Trust the wisdom of your own cycles and find the courage to move towards what you truly desire.
And give the new skin time to form.
Because you are not losing yourself in the process, you are becoming more fully yourself.
With love and care,
Ester
