BETWEEN FEAR AND LOVE
The October 2026 Full Moon arrives on October 26 at 2° Taurus, conjunct Chiron, opposite the Sun and Venus in Scorpio, and square Pluto. This is an intense lunation that brings a tender wound to the surface: the fear that you are not capable. That somehow, when life changes, things fall apart or the ground shifts beneath your feet, you won’t be able to handle it. And when that fear takes hold, you may try to make life more predictable. You may tighten your grip, anticipate every possible problem and work harder to ensure nothing goes wrong.
But what if the very thing you are doing to feel safe is keeping you from experiencing the peace you seek?
This Full Moon invites you to explore the relationship between fear and love, control and trust, and the kind of security that doesn’t depend on everything going according to plan.
The Pleasure of Being Here
Taurus is the energy of spring in full bloom, when life expresses itself through colour, fragrance, warmth and abundance. Flowers open, trees fill with leaves, and the world becomes an invitation to experience the pleasure of being alive.
As an earth sign ruled by Venus, Taurus connects love with the physical world. You find it in the warmth of sunlight on your skin, the scent of flowers, a nourishing meal, the softness of a blanket or the simple pleasure of being in your body.
This is a particular kind of optimism. It doesn’t depend on the promise that one day everything will be better. It comes from noticing what is already here. You don’t need to wait until your life is perfect to experience something good and you don’t need to resolve every uncertainty before allowing yourself a moment of peace.
There is beauty here, now, even while some things remain unfinished.
But the Full Moon illuminates the opposite sign, Scorpio, bringing another dimension to this experience.
Scorpio understands that life is not always in bloom. There are seasons of loss, endings and transformation. Leaves fall. Familiar structures dissolve. What once felt secure can change, sometimes without your permission. And at this Full Moon, Venus, the ruler of Taurus, is in Scorpio alongside the Sun, drawing the planet of love and pleasure into this deeper territory.
The question becomes: Can you remain connected to the goodness of life when you cannot control what happens next?
The Illusion of Control
When you feel unsafe, control can seem like the most sensible solution. You might monitor your finances obsessively, analyse another person’s every word, overthink decisions, anticipate problems or hold yourself to impossible standards. You may try to organise every detail of your life so that nothing catches you off guard.
Underneath these behaviours is often a simple belief:
If I can control what happens, I can prevent myself from getting hurt.
Perhaps you learned this early in life. Unpredictability once meant emotional pain, disappointment or the loss of something important. Becoming observant, capable and prepared may have helped you navigate circumstances you didn’t know how to change.
There is nothing wrong with being organised, thoughtful or prepared. The difficulty begins when your sense of safety depends on getting everything right.
Because life is not a fixed structure. People change, plans fall through, opportunities appear unexpectedly and sometimes you do everything you can, and the outcome is still different from what you imagined.
Control demands that tomorrow looks exactly like today.
And when that becomes your definition of safety, every change starts to feel like a threat. You may find yourself constantly scanning the horizon for what could go wrong, unable to relax even when things are going well. The more you try to control your surroundings, the more fragile your sense of security becomes.
Eventually, you can become controlled by the very things you are trying to master.
This is the shadow of Scorpio: an attempt to escape vulnerability by eliminating uncertainty. But vulnerability is part of being alive. You cannot prevent every loss, anticipate every difficulty or guarantee that nothing will hurt you.
And you don’t need to.
True security is not the absence of change. It is the ability to remain connected to yourself as life changes.
The Wound of Not Being Capable
With Chiron conjunct the Full Moon, this struggle touches a deeper wound: the fear that you are not capable of handling life as it unfolds. It may not always appear as fear. Sometimes it looks like perfectionism or procrastination, because beginning something means risking the possibility of getting it wrong. Sometimes it appears as an overwhelming need to have everything figured out before you take the next step.
You may even hold yourself back from things you genuinely desire because you cannot guarantee that you will succeed.
Underneath it all are the questions:
- What if I can’t handle it?
- What if the money runs out?
- What if the relationship changes?
- What if your plans fail?
- What if you make the wrong decision and cannot find your way back?
These questions can make the future feel like a place you need to defend yourself against.
But consider something.
You have already lived through moments you could not have anticipated. and faced changes you didn’t choose, navigated circumstances you didn’t know how to manage and discovered things about yourself you could never have known in advance.
Maybe you not have handled every situation perfectly and you may still carry grief, regret or uncertainty about things that happened.
But you are here.
Your capacity is not measured by how successfully you prevent difficulties but measured by your willingness to meet them, learn from them and find your way forward.
You don’t need to know exactly how you will handle every possible future, you need to begin trusting that you can respond to the one that actually arrives.
That is a very different kind of security.
Between Fear and Love
Fear and love offer two very different ways of relating to uncertainty.
Fear tells you that you must protect yourself from everything that might go wrong. It asks you to anticipate, defend, prepare and control. It narrows your attention until the possibility of danger becomes more compelling than the reality of what is good.
Love invites you back into connection.
Connection with yourself, with your body with the people you care about. With nature, creativity and the simple experiences that remind you there is more to life than what you can predict.
When you feel afraid, it can be difficult to access this sense of connection. Your attention becomes consumed by what might happen, and you lose touch with what is happening now.
You forget that you are here, in this moment, with the resources you have today.
This is why fighting fear with more force rarely brings the peace you are looking for. You cannot bully yourself into feeling safe and you cannot shame yourself into trusting life.
Just as you don’t fight darkness with a sword, you don’t have to fight fear with aggression.
You can begin by bringing a little love to the place where you feel afraid.
Place a hand over your heart. Give yourself the tenderness you might offer someone you love. Let your body soften, even a little, and remind yourself:
- I am here.
- I am safe in this moment.
- I am capable of finding my way, even when I don’t know it yet.
You don’t have to force yourself to believe these words immediately. Let them be an invitation rather than another demand you must meet.
And remember that feeling safe is not always a matter of changing your thoughts. Sometimes you need practical support, a clearer boundary, a plan or help from someone you trust. Love includes taking those needs seriously.
The point is not to pretend that nothing can go wrong but to stop treating every uncertainty as proof that something will.
Trust the Season You Are In
Nature offers a beautiful reminder that life doesn’t unfold in a straight line.
Autumn and winter may appear to come after spring and summer if you think of time as a sequence of beginnings and endings. But in the cyclical rhythm of nature, autumn also prepares the ground for spring. The falling leaves become part of the soil from which new life will eventually emerge.
The apparent ending is already part of the next beginning.
You don’t need to force a tree to bloom in winter and you don’t need to interpret the absence of flowers as evidence that the tree has failed.
You understand that there is a process unfolding, much of it invisible, that cannot be hurried.
And yet, when you find yourself in a winter season of your own, you may struggle to offer yourself the same trust.
You may see a pause as failure, an ending as a mistake or uncertainty as evidence that you have lost your way.
But perhaps this season is asking something different of you.
Perhaps it is time to gather your resources, tend to what matters and allow what has run its course to fall away. Or maybe you are learning to trust your resourcefulness rather than depending on every external circumstance remaining the same.
You cannot always choose the conditions in which you find yourself. But you can learn to meet those conditions with greater care, awareness and confidence in your ability to respond.
And you can still allow yourself to feel good along the way.
You can enjoy the warmth of the sun while a question remains unanswered and you can create something beautiful while your future is uncertain. And you can experience love without knowing how long a particular chapter will last.
You don’t have to postpone being alive until you feel completely secure.
Life is happening now, even when you don’t know what comes next.
October 2026 Full Moon in Taurus: Between Fear and Love
This Full Moon invites you to look at the places where fear has been shaping your relationship with life.
You don’t need to eliminate fear before you can choose love. You can feel afraid and still treat yourself with kindness and you can be uncertain and still take the next step. And you can acknowledge the risks in front of you without allowing them to become the whole story.
When fear arises, look for a way to reconnect with what is good, true and nourishing in your life: spend time in nature, make something with your hands, listen to music that opens your heart or reach out to someone you love. Return to your body and to the present moment.
Let these experiences remind you that fear is not the whole of your reality.
And if you can begin to trust that life is not simply something you must defend yourself against, you may discover a different relationship with the future. Challenges can still hurt, and some circumstances will require real courage and change. But they don’t have to mean that you are incapable, that you have failed or that life is against you.
You can meet what comes with the resources you have, learn what you need to learn and allow yourself to become more capable through the process.
The choice is not always between a life without fear and a life filled with fear.
Sometimes the choice is between letting fear make every decision for you and allowing love to have a voice, too.
And perhaps love begins with this simple recognition, that you don’t have to control everything to be capable and that you don’t have to know everything to trust yourself.
And most importantly, you don’t have to wait for life to become certain before you allow yourself to feel good.
Between fear and love, you can choose to come back to love.
With love and care,
Ester
